How much does a car sale ad cost in the newspaper?
Classified text is charged per line, so a short car-for-sale ad is the cheapest option — the rate finder above shows the real figure for your paper and edition before you share anything, at official rates with a lowest-price guarantee. Classified display, which lets you add a photo, border or colour, is charged per sq.cm. Both are per insertion, plus 5% GST.
What should a car-for-sale ad say?
Sellers use one shape: make and model, year, fuel, kilometres run, ownership, insurance validity, the price you expect and a phone number — for example "Swift VDi 2018, 1st owner, 52,000 km, insurance valid, price negotiable". Tell us those details in any order, even as a photo of handwritten matter, and we set it in the paper's format and show you a proof before it prints.
Can I put a photo of the vehicle in the ad?
Yes, in classified display — that format lets you add a photo, a border and colour, and it is charged per sq.cm rather than per line. Plain classified text is words only. For a car or bike a photo usually earns its cost, because the buyer wants to see the condition before calling; we quote both formats so you can compare.
Which edition covers my city?
A classified runs only in the editions you choose, and each covers specific districts, not a whole state. A buyer has to be able to come and see the vehicle, so the edition covering your own city and its neighbouring districts is usually the one that works. Tell us where you are and we confirm the coverage before you pay.
Which day should my vehicle ad run?
Weekend editions carry the heaviest classified readership, which is when most people go looking. Weekday insertions cost the same per line and are useful if you want the ad out quickly — many sellers run it two or three days in a row rather than once, because a vehicle buyer rarely calls off the first sighting.
When will it publish?
Most papers have a same-day or next-morning cut-off — book before the cut-off and it runs the next day. Weekend classified pages book out earlier, so give yourself a day's margin. We confirm the exact cut-off for your paper and edition before you pay.
Can you write or translate the ad for me?
Yes — free. Send the vehicle details in any language and we draft the matter, trim it to the paper's line limit, translate it into the paper's language and show you a proof before it prints.
How do I know the ad actually ran?
After publication you can view your ad in that paper's e-paper for the published date and edition, or buy a local copy of that edition. You also get a GST invoice for the booking.
